In July 2004 we opened a new recruitment centre in Salford Quays to deal with the recruitment requirements for our c.400 stores. The candidates supplied matched our specification and in the coming weeks we went back, often at very short notice, for high numbers of people. Turnover was significantly lower than we’d experienced and attendance levels better and having spent time with the new recruits part of this was clearly down to the screening process.
